According to the ARRL, the ARES Simulated Emergency Test (SET) is a “nationwide exercise to test your personal emergency-operating skills and the readiness of your communications equipment and accessories in a simulated emergency-like deployment.”
This year, Mesa County ARES will hold our 2025 Ready, SET, Go! exercise on September 27th. This event will give members a chance to dust off their Go-Kit and deploy to the field to provide message traffic back to our simulated Emergency Operations Center.
The main goal of the 2025 Ready, SET, Go! Exercise is to gain confidence in being able to deploy on short notice to achieve the desired outcome. We would prefer to find the limitations of our equipment and skills in an exercise environment rather than during an actual emergency. We’re going back to basics – get a call, grab your gear, achieve the objective and return to base safely. Let’s put the fun back into EmComm!
