Announcing the Colorado Western Region ARES Net on the third Saturday of the month at 0800. The first session of the net is September 19th on 7.235 LSB. Stations in Regions 7 (Southwest), 8 (West), and 9 (Northwest) are invited to participate.
Ideally, stations should be configured for NVIS propagation which, simply, calls for a dipole or inverted-V antenna with the feed point around 35 feet above ground and transmit with as much power as possible. If you have some other antenna configuration at your station don’t let that stop you from giving it a try.
Like all ARES nets, the purpose is to test our emergency communications readiness and station capabilities. I’ll be looking for reception reports from everyone who checks in to the net. From these reports we’ll be able to see how well we can establish communications across our region and to the others in western Colorado.
