For years, we’ve conducted the RACES net every Wednesday at 1930 on the GMRA linked repeater system.  RACES has always been active in Colorado, but the net has evolved as ARES and other EmComm users have been added to the net.  In addition, the state-wide RACES groups no longer link into the GMRA system via IRLP as RACES transitions to the AuxComm model, so participation from users on the front range has tapered off.  To put more of a local emphasis on the net, we’ve decided to move the Wednesday night net to the WCARC linked repeaters (146.94/Black Ridge and 145.175/Grand Mesa).  This accomplishes a couple of things: it increases the usage of the club repeaters, and since many of our new hams monitor these repeaters, it increases the incentive to start checking into a net and becoming part of the EmComm community.  Brad AKØBC conducted the net on WCARC last week, so start listening for the net on those frequencies next week.  We’re making an additional change: since we don’t have the Denver-area people checking in, it hasn’t been necessary to take early check-ins to avoid a pile-up at 1930.  From now on, we’ll just start the formal net at 1930 with no pre-checks.
