In past years, Mesa County ARES has experimented with digital modes to help manage the emergency communication capabilities for our race events. We tried using Winlink and VARA FM, but this year, we added several new modes and capabilities. With the explosion in computer capacity and artificial intelligence, our digital “wizards” Bill KØDZ, Steve KEØBPD and Ryan KFØVNF created software and hardware solutions that we prototyped with the possibility of incorporating these features into future races.
