Colorado ARES will hold a Winlink 101 training session on Saturday, February 7th at 09:00. This training is the first of several section-wide training sessions being planned this year. Our plan is to offer one section-wide training per quarter. The goal of these trainings is to increase communication skills among all ARES districts in Colorado and to add to our core competencies as ARES communicators.

Winlink 101 training is designed for those who have never used Winlink before, or haven’t used Winlink in a long time, or have had issues using Winlink in the past. Although all Colorado ARES members are welcome, this training is not geared towards the Winlink expert.

Our training begins at 09:00 and will likely last two hours with a brief break in the middle. During this training you will learn about the Winlink network and how it works. You will also learn about Winlink Express, the free application for Windows computers to create and send messages. We will demonstrate how to use the built-in forms within Winlink Express, and we will learn about the various modes that are available to connect to a receiving and sending station. We will also learn about a fun way to practice your Winlink skills.
